Hi friends, I need to inform you that blind can play online chess, with knowing or learning some details. of course, at anytime I can help on this to anyone, but first you should know is the notation system. I don't remember anyone now, but if you ask me, I can find out in a few minutes a link where you can learn it. For serious chess players (like me) this became a very good oportunity, and this is known seldomly among blind chess players. in my opinion, the only game, which doesn't make a difference between seing and blind people is chess. So, if you are curious about it, I am ready to help you.
Yours,
Chessbridge

oh yes, now I felt that I have to type the continuation of my post, because at first I had thought that nobody would be interested *smile*

well friends, firstly you don't have to go through a web sight or somethin, you all need is to download winboard programme from www.tim-mann.org and install. the one who had the winboard's accessible version can say that we already have it, but you will see that the radio button of use an internet chess server under the start up dialogue is not working. so go and download winboard again, and after installing, from the winboard menu enter to start up dialogue, and it asks what you would like to do. then with errow keys you select the radio button of use an internet chess server, and one tab you come to the list of available chess servers. and the most popular of them are chessclub.com and freechess.org. I recommend you to go freechess.org at first you can play online chess in these servers non registering, but if you want you can register too. well, the playing procedure is a bit hard, but when playing you will see that this can be delt. after entering on a chess server (preferably freechess.org) there will be a window that it asks you for your user handle and password, but if you type guest or a seldom handle, you can play unrated games with that handle. for instance, on freechess.org my handle is also chessbridge. after connecting, press tab through the three windows of the server, one of them is normal chess board of winboard, besides the notaition is looking under the clock (already you should know this, as I said in my previous post) and the other windows are a console to type commands for server (I will pass them later if you are interested so far) and the last one is the board of server, you can follow here people's game seeks, chat's to chat channels, and so on.

now, if I see that even a few person is interested in so far, I will start to tell the commands and how to type and use them.
thanks

Wow, sounds interesting and complicated...smile! I take it this isn't something for beginners? Anything out there to play chess against the computer? Thank you for continuing though!

hey, already we were trying to get rid of playing to computers, but if you want of course many professional and amature programmes for use of blind. for instance, if you download KChess elite from www.arkangles.com you will be able to play games too. and that will be a one month trial, so talk to me after downloading it.
